upgraded my O/S from windows professional XP 64-bit with a clean install of windows 7 Professional x-64. The motherboard is an Intel D972XBX2, and the PC that it is installed in works just fine. The devices connected to the on-board SATA connectors include a 500GB Hitachi HDD and a Lite-on DVD-ROM drive, and I do not have any problems with these. However, indications in Device Manager are that no driver has been installed for the serial ATA controller, and this is a big puzzle that has me stumped. I am unable to find any compatible driver from either the Intel driver download center, or microsoft windows update, for this component and I am unable to get any assistance from Intel Tech Support. This is simply because the D975XBX2 mother board is no longer made by them. I've had this PC for almost four years, and all hardware passed the Microsoft windows 7 hardware compatibility test which convinced me to follow through with the upgrade to this operating system.

Just built this machine. Installed Windows 7 on the 500GB drive. Both drives are plugged into the blue SATA 6GB ports on my board. My drivers for these controllers are Marvell 91xx SATA 6G v1.2.0.1002 (Dated 3/7/2011). The second 2TB drive shows up in BIOS as well as Drive Management in Windows, but it will not be recognized as an accessible drive that can be formatted, partitioned, or anything. I get an error each time I attempt to format or partition through Drive Management. When I plug the 2TB drive into one of the other (black, Intel) SATA ports, the drive works fine, but in the blue ports it just won't seem to work. The 500GB drive, however, works perfectly as the boot disk in these ports.

32 Bit Win7 Dell Touchpad Drive Needed

I am looking for an alternate touchpad drive to install in my Dell Inspiron 1720 that is compatible for 32 bit Win 7. My warranty went up and Dell will not give me the compatible programs unless I pay.

Marvell Driver For Controller Not Compatible With Windows 7

My system is slow to load and no real problem with using the internet. It's just when I play BF3 online my system crashes hard sometimes and powers off or I get real slow fps/ freezes up and I have to shut down the pc to get out. Windows tells me the hd controllers driver (Marvell) is not compatible with windows 7, that everything is bottle necking at the controller and suggests I go to the OEM site for an updated, compatible driver. No luck there. No driver and they claim that hd is compatible with Win 7. The hd is a Western Digital, WD 5000 AADS, 500 gig, 32 mb SATA 3. End of the road? Do I have to buy a new hd that has drivers that are compatible with windows 7?

Install Win7 On SATA Drive

I have a HP m7667c, which has two SATA drives. The motherboard is ASUS P5BW-LA (or Basswood-UL8E). I've never successfully installed vista before because of it kept asking for SATA drive. I wonder if there is a solution for this problem with Window 7?
I think I have RAID on in the BIOS configuration but I don't really want to turn it off because in that way my old WinXP would die. I just wanted to give Windows 7 a try before I completely change to it. Could anyone help me? I could provide more information about the desktop if necessary.

Partitioning A Single Sata Drive With Win7 On It

I got a question for you maybe you can answer for me. I have a single 1terabyte sata drive with windows 7 on it. I used to have Windows xp pro on it but i upload Windows 7, i just delete the 'old windows' that Windows 7 left me. Now i have accumulated alot of files in my documents file which i use for video purposes which take up about 530 gigs.
i can't wipe my hard drive clean to install the new update rc which i recieved as a beta tester. Is there any way to partition the drive only where Windows 7 is at leaving my 530 gigs in a seperate partition so that i can install dual os's. The two os's will be Windows 7 rc and Xp Pro. the only reason i made the switch is because i built my new computer with 4 gigs of memory running core 7 processor but xp only sees 3 gigs.

Dual Boot - XP On First Drive (SATA) Win7 Second (IDE)

I am running XP on a SATA HDD. I have installed Win 7 on a second partition with some problems. The main problem was random BSOD's. This I believe, I have traced back to the fact that the MoBo runs Nvidia chips. Have downloaded the updated Nvidia Win 7 chip drivers. So, I uninstalled Win 7 and removed boot loader via BCDEDIT.
What I would now like to try is to install Win 7 on a separate IDE HDD connected to the primary IDE controller. This is so I can sort out the Nvidia driver problem.
I can see problems with this. My questions are the following:
What will I set the IDE HDD to be, Master or Slave? Then boot off DVD/ROM and then install Win 7 as normal onto IDE HDD. If yes, I take it that the Windows 7 bootloader will not be installed on the XP SATA HDD. If this is the case then I should be able to use EasyBCD to add the XP on the SATA HDD. Most critical part of the whole deal will be to set the SATA HDD (with XP) to boot FIRST. I have been down this track before and the MoBo sets the IDE as Drive 0 (FIRST boot HDD).
I know that there is a simple answer to this. I just cannot see the forest for the trees at present.

Win7 Doesn't Recognize SATA Hard Drive

I built a new computer. Rather expensive, but it should perform well. -Anyway-, I bought a brand new hard drive with the expectation of installing windows 7 on it and then working from there. The hard drive is recognized in the BIOS, the CMOS, and anything at all I've checked, but when I put the windows 7 64 bit disk in and try to do a custom install, seeing as I have nothing on the disk from which to upgrade, my hard drive does not show up in the section in which 7 asks where I want to install.
Motherboard is GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard, hard drive is Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5' Internal Hard Drive.

The problem is that I cannot find the Intel 5 Series 4 Port SATA AHCI Controller drivers for Windows 7 64-Bit to put on a floppy or USB drive. I've combed the Sony website and Google and the only Intel 5 Series 4 Port SATA AHCI Controller Drivers that can be placed on a floppy or USB are for Windows XP. Without the TXTSETUP.OEM, I'm dead in the water! The 64-Bit drivers (INDOTH-00215023-0042.EXE) are for an already installed Windows 7. BTW guys, the the BIOS settings on this laptop is as anemic as it gets, so there is really no way to optimize there.

Intel GMA GM965 Slow Video With Win7 RC/Beta Drivers

I tried to play Wolfire Games - Lugaru (i have bought the game but the demo is good test) on my laptop with Intel gma 965, or the X3100 if you prefer, and it is unplayable.
Using the included 965 driver with windows 7 RC and Beta both, and even updating to the newest version currently available on windows update, the game is unplayable. The mouse cursor lags, heavily, just in the menu screen. It froze the system overall when I tried to load a level.
I can play the game just fine on Linux with this laptop. And, after trying the older Vista drivers instead of the windows 7 drivers, it ran just perfectly. The vista drivers DID give me a BSoD afterwards though when I shut down. I didn't install them in vista compat mode.
I had the exact same problem with GeForce drivers on a desktop with the same game(and another game called Secondhand Lands). The included windows 7 video drivers overall seem severely crippled.

I have the GA-EX58-Extreme Board and have just installed the pre release of Windows 7 7600 64 bit. Normally i have experience to get the BSOD when in staling with AHCI active in bios so i change to IDE mode. Installation went flawless and also the change to AHCI mode on Intel ICH10R controler went normal.
As always i got problem to change the J micron controller to AHCI and of cause i got the BSOD again. I installed the latest R1.17.48.16 driver and tryed again but no luck. Can some tell me what i am doing wrong. ? I have a hardisk and a dvd drive attached to the J micron Sata connection.

Marvell Yukon 88E8052 Issue

Been pulling my hair out for a few days trying to solve an unidentified network problem with my Marvell Yukon 88E8052 . Tried all the fixes I found on the web and nothing worked. I finally did an ipconfig all and noticed the MAC address reported was totally bogus (something like F0-00-00-00-00-00). I went into adapter settings - advanced tab and configured the network name (MAC address) manually. As soon as I did that windows recognized the network and asked what type it was. I've been golden ever since.

Marvell Network Adapter Just Disappears

I'm using a Marvell Yukon 88E8053 Gigabit adapter. When I installed 7 and logged in for the first time, my ethernet did not work. I had to use a USB drive to get drivers to install it. So, I get it installed and working and then I add the PC to my domain, log in with a domain user and it cant even find the DC to authenticate to!
I log back in with the user on the workgroup and find that the ethernet is not working. I look under device manager and the 'Network Adapters' node is not even there! I try to install the Marvell adapter and ony Intel adapters are listed. When I try to 'Add Legacy Device' and use the drivers for my Marvell, it won't even display a list to choose a model from, so at this point I'm pulling my hair out. I reboot, log in with the worgroup user and the network card shows up; OMG.
At this point I can finally log in with the domain user. I'm installing a bunch of software and I finally stop and let the system lock the computer. I come back, log in and guess what, no stinkin adapter; not even in device manager. Looks I have to reboot every time this happens. I just set the power options to High Performance, so hopefully I can get past this issue for now.
Anyone else having this problem?

Very little, all the parts were shipped here about four days ago and I spent a couple of hours putting them together. I ran into a hiccup when Windows 7 Home Premium would not get past the extracting phase of the installation, kicking up the error in this thread. I began the first install on a 20GB partition, when that failed I tried just installing it on a single partition. When that failed I tried removing all the partitions and just installing on the unformatted drive, in it's entirety (seemed weird but others said they had luck with this).Testing Methodology:
At the end of each attempted solution I tried to install Windows again.My keyboard is a USB keyboard. All of my boot testing is done with a bootable USB that I have running MS-DOS 6.22. What I Have Tried:Solution 1: First I went into the bios and changed the SATA controller from AHCI to Raid SATA Result = FAILEDSolution 2: I tried burning OEM Windows disk from Microsoft to an iso at the lowest speed possible for my DVD burner (4x).Result = FAILEDSolution 3: At this point I had created and deleted so many partitions I was concerned it may be having an effect on the install. So I went to Samsung's website and grabbed their HDD utility tool. I figured let's kill two birds with one stone and test the drive while also restoring it to it's original state. So I did a low level format and then ran the HDD diagnostic. All came back with no errors. Result = FAILED
On to memory..Solution 4: I downloaded Microsoft's Memory Diagnostic Tool and let it run overnight. It returned no errors. So I decided to use MemTest86 4.1 and let it run for 10 passes, I did find errors then. As of now I am running each module of memory one by one to determine if it is a problem with them or the sockets on the motherboard. So far I have been unable to reproduce the errors I got when both modules were running together. As a precaution I double checked the motherboards specifications on the socket order for memory, all is to specs. Result = [PENDING]What's Next:After my current memory test ends, I plan on checking my BIOS to see if the correct memory speeds were detected in the auto detection. If at that point I'm still unable to reproduce the memory errors, I'll put both memory modules back into the system and run the testing again to see if I can reproduce the errors I got the first time.
