I have a ASUS DRW-24B1ST and it worked great when I bought it for my new comp. Then last night when I shut the whole thing down for a nights rest and woke the next morning, there was a problem. Okay, here are the complete instructions!
Click on the Start --> Run, type 'regedit' and click the OK
Expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE key (looks like a folder) by double clicking it (or clicking the '+' next to it.)
Expand the SYSTEM Key
Expand the CurrentControlSet Key
Expand the Control Key
Expand the Class Key
Please look for a key containing the following string of letter and numbers:
High light this key by left clicking once on it
On the right hand side you are looking for UpperFilters and LowerFilters under the Name column, once you find these please delete them by right clicking on them and choosing 'delete'
Exit the registry and restart the computer.
About the issue' Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs', please refer to the KB314060 from Microsoft and have a test.

Asus Drw 24b1st Drivers

Hello! I have a ASUS DRW-24B1ST and it worked great when I bought it for my new comp. Then last night when I shut the whole thing down for a nights rest and woke the next morning, there was a problem. The cd/dvd drive was no longer visible under Computer. I opened device manager and it's under the drive section with a yellow triangle and an exclamation mark near it. I tried updating the drivers but it says everythings up to date. I downloaded the drivers manually but both give me errors, and I even downloaded a program called 'Mats_Run.dvd' to help identify and fix the problem. It found the problem and also, could not fix it.
I'm stumped, this just randomly happened when I booted the next day. The drive can open and everything, it's just unusuable.
Do I have to return it?
